Holiday Shopping at J.Crew

Holiday Shopping at J.Crew

Ottawa finally got a J.Crew store and I couldn’t be happier! Until now, I did all my shopping online, which is great because they have flat rate shipping to Canada for $9.95. And if that’s the way you want to do your shopping, don’t forget that you need to order by December 16th if you want it to arrive by Christmas Eve. If not, get yourself over to the Rideau Centre and check out my favourite gifts for this holiday season!

1. Glacier Bracelet

I received this bracelet as an early Christmas present and I adore it. It’s a great statement piece and goes with everything. It’s reasonably priced at $58 and makes a great gift for any stylish woman on your list!

2. Chunky Ribbed Scarf

I got this scarf when I attended the J.Crew grand opening event and it’s my favourite cold-weather accessory these days. It’s chunky and soft, and if needed, it will cover my entire face from the bitterly cold wind! I will be taking this bad boy to the cottage for those -30C days on the skating rink!

3. Dreamy Cotton Pyjama Set

How cozy does this pyjama look! Several people have told me that it’s the softest, most flattering pyjama they own, and the heart print is so sweet.

4. Passport Case and Luggage Tag

This is a great gift for anyone planning a trip in the new year. I have a couple of passport cases, and I like them because they keep my tickets, foreign money and other travel documents in one safe place. And a bright luggage tag will make it so easy to spot your bag amongst the sea of suitcases at baggage claim!

5.  Sequin-trim Sweatshirt

This is basically the perfect top for holiday parties. The sequins make it super festive, while the soft sweatshirt material make it probably the most comfortable shirt you’ll own. It comes in three colours but I am a sucker for soft pink! Personally, I would pair this top with faux-leather leggings and black loafers for an effortless party look.

Another favourite is this bright pink sweater that my friend recently bought ( and now I wish I had too!)

High vs. Low

High vs. Low

Nothing makes me happier than finding the look of a more expensive item with a great low price! Don’t get me wrong, I will splurge on some things (will write a post on that later!) but when you can get a similar style without paying the big bucks, it’s a no brainer!

Here are my 3 current favourite high-end looks at low-end prices!

1. Rag and Bone vs. Forever 21 vs. Old Navy

The Harrow boot has a great shape, nice low heel and I love the slit in the front. I found a similar style at Forever 21 and bought them in black and brown. I wear them all the time, they are super comfy! They still have a couple of sizes left in the brown at the Rideau Centre location! Another store that carries a similar look is Old Navy, also a great price point! I can’t speak to the comfort level, but you can use their website to check availability at your closest store.

Old Navy Strappy Ankle Boots $35

2. Valentino vs. Steve Madden

The Valentino Rocketed Pump has been seen on more celebrities and fashion bloggers than I can count. And although it’s a beautiful shoe, it’s bit trendy and it’s not something I necessary want to spend over $1,000 on. So I found a really great, although stud-less, alternative that will give me my Valentino fix! Bayshore has a beautiful new Steve Madden store so go check it out!

Steve Madden Surfice T-Strap Pump $50

3. Canada Goose vs. Target

When looking for a new winter coat, I was dreading having to spend the big bucks right around the holidays, when I have a million other things to pay for. But when I found this great WARM parka from Target (I bought mine in black), it reminded me of the great classic lines of a Canada Goose but without the high price. And so far, it’s kept me really warm!
